Why do I need a Pregnancy Options Consultation?
If you are facing a pregnancy decision, there are 3 questions you need to answer before you decide.
1. Am I truly pregnant?
A lab-quality pregnancy test is needed to confirm whether you are truly pregnant. Even with a positive home test, it's important to have a lab-quality test that directly measures your urine’s hCG levels. This provides a more accurate test result. Jewel Women's Center offers no-cost, lab-quality pregnancy testing to help you know for sure.
2. Is the pregnancy viable?
If you receive a positive reading on the pregnancy test at Jewel, you'll be offered an ultrasound with our medical sonographer. Studies show that 30% of early pregnancies end naturally in miscarriage. It’s very important to have a trained medical sonographer evaluate whether the pregnancy is indeed viable and growing in the uterus. The ultrasound will also allow our sonographer to confirm exactly how far along the pregnancy is. If you are considering abortion, the information obtained from this part of the appointment is extremely important. 3. Do I have an STI?
Regardless of your intentions for the pregnancy, it's important to be tested for STIs to ensure you do not have an infection that could negatively impact your health. This is the third question Jewel is prepared to help you answer during a pregnancy options consultation.

You may have more options than you think. During your pregnancy options consultation, we will LISTEN to your concerns. We will answer your questions. We will offer you information on different options.
